Halifax Central Library
What is a Central Library?
A Central Library functions as the hub or core of the public library system within a city, region or municipality.
Halifax Public Libraries – Home Page
Halifax Regional Library was created April 1, 1996 from a merging of the Halifax City, Halifax County and Dartmouth Regional Libraries. At that time a new automated catalogue was launched allowing residents from the entire Halifax Regional Municipality to access the collections of the three former library systems. In 2003, the Library changed its name to Halifax Public Libraries.
Halifax Public Libraries – Sackville
Located on the main floor of the former Acadia School building, this bright and spacious full-service library offers a wide range of materials, including books, videos, CDs, DVDs, magazines and more.
Halifax Public Libraries – Mobile Public Libraries
Mobile Public Library carries a range of library materials for both adults and children, including books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, large print materials, videos and magazines. Mobile library staff can search the library catalogue on-board to assist you in locating materials to place on hold and borrow from any of the 14 branches.
