AutoEaster Solid Waste Collection Notice

Tuesday, March 26, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – HRM would like to remind residents that there will be no regular municipal solid waste collection services provided on Good Friday, March 29. Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, March 29 will occur the next day, Saturday, March 30.

The Otter Lake waste processing and disposal facility, the two composting facilities and the HRM recycling plant will be closed on Good Friday, March 29 (and Easter Sunday, March 31) but will be open on Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1 with regular operating hours.

The HRM’s residential household hazardous waste (HHW) depot will be closed Saturday, March 30 but will be open Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NACEL Canada, a not for profit cultural exchange organization, are starting to look for families to host exchange students coming from France this summer. They are very interested in placing students in the Fall River Area. Students come for 3 weeks either in July or August. Boys and girls 10-14 years old come to learn about life in Canada.
They can share a room with host sibling (same sex) but require their own bed.
Students are responsible for own spending money, but Families provides 3 meals a day.
24 hour full support
Families receive stipend of $300 for home stay
This is the perfect opportunity for local french students to have a brother or sister from France
Students are fully covered with medical and accident insurance
Welcome to host a student for both periods
Some students require English “homeschooling” (15 hrs)
Additional stipend of $150 for the homeschooling component
